The Restorer's Touch
The Restorer’s Touch is a warm, expressive watercolor inspired by the artistry of furniture restoration and the beauty found in objects that have lived a life before us. A weathered wooden drawer, antique brass hardware, and well-used paintbrush are rendered in glowing shades of gold, rust, brown, and softly granulating violet-gray.
The inspiration for this piece came from watching my daughter Alicia work in her Blackbird & Rose Studio, where she transforms worn and forgotten furniture into beautiful pieces ready for another chapter. Her ability to see possibility beneath age, scratches, and years of wear inspired this quiet tribute to the craft of restoration.
